What are the costs and ongoing costs of having a roofing website?

  •  I have a webpage through my phonebook or on another website. Isn't that good enough?

    Generally, no. The differences can be significant. If you have a webpage, you do not have a website. A website is generally considered a group of multiple pages, a domain name, and email addresses that are dedicated to that domain. If you do not have a these items, then you are probably not making a good impression to your customers. As people become more and more web savvy, they understand that it is extremely easy to have a website, and this may be a poor reflection on your company if you don't.

     Am I required to sign a long-term agreement?

    Absolutely not. Many design companies will make you sign a long-term agreement making you responsible for payments to them for 24-48 months. This will make the cost of your website well over $1200! At Roofwebs, every website comes with a free year of hosting, and after that, our ongoing fees are only $10-$15 a month! Always check the ongoing fees and possible long-term agreements with any web design company you do business with.

    Should I pay for a one-page description of my company on a lead generating website?

    Performance based lead generation is always the best route to take. It is generally better practice to only pay for leads that are sent your way. The question is, if they are asking you to pay to set up the account, how many leads are they going to generate for the amount they are charging? It is often prudent to find out how many consumers are visiting the site and requesting services before you pay to set it up. In most cases, it is not a good idea to pay for the set up, but if there are no ongoing fees, and they are sending you quality leads, it can be beneficial. It has long been a scam in the web industry to charge for the setup, and then generate very few leads. This brings big profits to the company who sold it to you, but little for you to profit from.

      I have an email account with Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail. Should I continue to use it?

    Having your own company email address (which is included with Roofwebs) is extremely important for first impressions. As a general rule, it is always better to have an email address that is connected to your own website. Using free email addresses does not look professional, even if your company name is part of the email address. It gives the customer a feeling that you are fly-by-night and could simply change your email address and they would lose contact for warranty issues.

    If you have been using your Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail account for a long time, you need to continue to check it on a regular basis as your customers might continue to try to contact you through that address even after you have your new company email. Another alternative is to contact them so they can update your email address in their address book.

       What do I get with RoofWebs?

    A REAL WEBSITE! All of our website options include your first year of hosting at no extra cost. We also throw in your company email, and customization for your company. We'll set up your site to reflect the different roofing systems you install, products you sell, and contact information. As we begin your site we will have some questions for you, so we will get in touch with you and ask for more information about your company.

      Can I add my company logo and/or the logos of the products I install?

    Absolutely! Send us your logo! If you don't have one, we can design something very basic at no extra charge. For a more extensive logo, we would have to charge for it, but we can handle almost any request. Call us for more information. We also have a logo database of most of the roofing product manufacturers and roofing associations. If we don't have it, we can usually get it. We'll also add your certifications and any logos you wish to use.

       Why/How do you do this so inexpensively?

    National Roof Group wants to help our Roofing Contractor Members succeed in every part of the roofing industry. We believe that in this day and age it is an absolute necessity for all business owners to have a website, and roofing contractors are certainly not an exception. We know that you have been thinking about it and putting it off for years, and if we can help you with it, then why wouldn't we do it? Our goal is to make it as simple and painless as it can possibly be so that you will not put it off simply because you don't understand it.        I'm interested, but how do I proceed?

    That's easy. Simply select the "Pay Deposit" button and pay for your site. Fill out the information sheet, and we'll do the rest. Once we get started, it is likely that you will receive several emails or phone calls from us asking specific questions about your company so that we may build your website and promote all of the products and services that you offer. You will be able to choose your email addresses, and we can walk you through the process very easily over the phone.

       Will my new website be search engine friendly?

    On our $349 websites, we will take care of basic search engine optimization which includes adding keywords and tags that identify your site as local to your area, along with a few other basic items. We will also add a link from the NRG Website and RooferData.com so that search engines pick it up more quickly. For extremely search engine friendly websites, consider upgrading to our line of $599 and Premium sites. Remember that any of our sites can be SEO friendly if you put some time into them. Once you are a customer, log in and see all of the tips we offer for making your site better.

       How long will it take to have my site up and running?

    Our start times usually depend on how long it takes you to get us all of the information we need to proceed. Depending on how fast you get us all of  your information, most websites are up and running 5-7 business days from the time you give us all of the information we need. If you plan to send us pictures and other documents to be added to your site, do so as quickly as possible. Please note that if you continue to send more and more information, it will slow the process down. Need your site faster? Let us know and for an added fee we can expedite the process for you.

       I already have a website designed. Can I move it to your hosting?

    Absolutely! And it is VERY easy to do. Additionally, you will receive your first year of hosting at no cost if you are a  National Roof Group Member! Subscribe to your hosting package and we'll send you the information you need to get it taken care of. If this is the case, your site can easily be running on our servers the same business day.

       Are we allowed to edit our own website, or do we have to go through you to do it?

    You can edit your own site at any time. If you have Microsoft FrontPage, you probably already have the ability to do it yourself. If you need help, call us and we'll set up a time to walk you through some of the basics of FrontPage. Joomla websites have a back-end administration that can easily be used to update/add/change content any time you want.

      How many email addresses can I have?

    Roofwebs.com places no restriction on the number of email addresses you have.

      Does the Roofwebs Email system support Blackberry and iPhone Users?

    Absolutely! Smartphone users can send and receive email easily with their Roofwebs Accounts.

      How can I access my email?

    You have many options including Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc. These are third-party email programs that will allow you to send and receive email directly to/from your computer. If you are on the road, you will also have access directly through your website or the front page of the RoofWebs site. Simply input your email address and password and you are taken to your inbox.

      How do I set up my email?

    We will send you an email containing your email account settings. If you need further help, watch this video. If it still isn't working, please feel free to call and we'll help you over the phone.

      I live in Canada, can I still get a roofing website through RoofWebs?

    You can, but with one small change. Due to Canadian law, you must order your .CA name directly from a domain company in Canada. Your domains will cost between $19-25 US Dollars. You simply order your domain elsewhere and we'll point it to our servers once you have ordered your hosting package and website at RoofWebs.

       Can I pay by check?

    Our billing system is designed to be used with credit card payments so that you don't lose track of your hosting payments, but we do allow you to pay via check as a last resort. However we do require that you pay the balance of your design work in advance if this method is used. One way we keep our costs low is to reduce the amount of paperwork, and paying by check increases our labor costs. As long as we can stay efficient,  we can continue to offer great pricing!  To submit a payment via check, follow the directions on this form.

      Do I have to place a deposit for you to get started?

    In order to keep our prices low, deposits (and in some cases, the full amount) are required to be paid prior to commencement of any project. Deposits will be deemed non-refundable if we have begun any portion of your site design. Pro-rated refunds may be considered at the rate of $89/hour and at the sole discretion of our staff and will likely depend on how much we've done to work on your site. Unpaid balances will be billed to the customer.

      If I need to cancel my service, how do I do so?

    While we would like for you to stay with RoofWebs, we understand that sometimes your circumstances change. If you would like to move your website or cancel your hosting, simply call us 713-589-9292. We will look at your individual case and help with your needs.

      If I have a domain name, should I cancel it to move to your service?

    NO! Never, ever cancel your domain name. Please call us and we'll advise you on how to move your website, or we can do it for you at no cost. If you cancel your domain name, you might not be able to get it back. But we can advise you on moving your site and forwarding your domain to your new website. In fact, it's very simple in most cases.

      I have heard that some hosting companies will hold my site hostage. Does RoofWebs do this?

    Never. Your website is yours to do as you please. If for some reason you are not happy with our service, simply call us and we'll try to make you a happy customer. If not, you are welcome to take your site and move to other hosting at any time.

      How do I get my site listed in Google Maps?

      Should I subscribe to traffic increasing services found on the internet?

    While we generally place no bandwidth restrictions on your service, traffic increasing services are strictly prohibited while using Roofwebs servers to host your site. You will find ads all over the internet that promise to "increase your website traffic in 24 hours" or the like. In our experience these services generate fake traffic using computers from around the world to increase your bandwidth usage and generate absolutely no leads. Because these are computer generated "hits" it stands to reason that it is of no use to you or your business. If you have questions about traffic generation services, please contact us prior to signing up for Roofwebs.

    The average Roofwebs customer uses approximately 1% of their account bandwidth in any given month. Traffic generation services have, in the past, used 82% in as little as five days, and not generated one single lead. We have been forced to prohibit the use of them when they are used to access our servers. Subscribers in violation of this rule will be suspended until such a time as the traffic flow from such services has ceased. No refunds will be given for suspended time or unused hosting subscription time.

      What is a good way to increase the traffic to my site?

    Since every roofing company's goals are different, we will be happy to discuss your unique situation over the phone and make recommendations to increase your traffic with legitimate, human leads. Please call us to discuss increasing your traffic.

      Do you have any guarantee that having a website will increase calls to our business?

    The success of any website depends on many factors that are beyond our control, therefore we do not guarantee that your phone will start ringing after your website is in place. Furthermore, you should also be wary of companies who claim that they will. Ultimately, that decision is up to your area, your services, and the customer.

    More and more people are using the internet as a search tool to find a roofing company, but they also use websites as a way to reinforce what you have said when they meet you in person or speak to you on the phone. Most people will follow-up your on-site visit with a quick trip to your website to get another view of your company. Websites will give them a visual overview and reference point to your dedication to quality, integrity, and to see services you may offer.  It is always a good idea to point them to your website, and include it in any advertising you use.

      Do you charge any late fees?

    Unfortunately due to the increase in workload that late payments cause, we have been forced to implement a strict late payment fee policy. If your service is interrupted for any non-payment reason, you must pay any outstanding balance, plus a $25 disconnect/reconnect fee. Late payments for your domain name will require the late-payment fee, and you may be required to pay an extra year ($9.95) on your domain name.

      When is my balance payment due?

    Your balance payment is due within two business days of your site being completed. Should your payment not be received within that time-frame, it is likely that your site will be suspended automatically by our system. The balance must be paid prior to any edits to your site, the site being moved, or your business card proofs are sent to you for approval. 

      Can I add more pages to a $349 website?

    Depending on the template you choose, you can generally add more pages. Please call us to discuss your needs, and be aware that you will likely be charged for the additional page designs and additions. We will be happy to give you an exact amount depending upon your goals.

      I already have a hosting account I am happy with. Can I use my own hosting?

    You can, but ultimately you will be responsible for any lost time if your hosting service does not have standard items for us to design your CMS-based website on their server. Not all hosting companies are created equally, and some have constant slow-downs and crashes. Keep in mind that your first year with Roofwebs is included in the price and there is no discount on site design if you host elsewhere. Also, your site will not be released until you have paid any outstanding balance for the design of your site. This means that it will be designed on our servers and cannot be transferred until your balance is paid. If you need help moving it to another hosting service, we can generally do this at no cost, but you will be responsible for setting up many of the items that go with your new website. CMS sites being moved will incur a fee as the work is extensive to ensure that it works properly after the move.

      What if I have more questions?

    Simply call us at 713-589-9292. We are the most accessible web company on the net. You'll notice that most web and hosting companies only want to converse via email. We answer the phone, and if we are too busy to answer, leave a message and we will call you back as quickly as possible. We want you to be a very satisfied customer so that our reputation alone brings us more roofers. Isn't that the way businesses are supposed to operate?

    How do I update my own website?

    Roofwebs recently took the bold initiative to move to all content managed websites so that you can easily edit the content contained within your website. We did this so that you wouldn't have to spend money on a designer to add pages or change content, and we'll teach you to do it! We highly recommend that you make changes to your site on a regular basis. Fresh content is the key to ranking higher within search results. Every Roofwebs site is now very easily updated, and you can add new pages and functions to your site quickly and easily... even if you don't know much about computers.

    We found a joomla template that we love, but it is not a roofing website. Can you turn it into a roofing website?

    When you are considering our $599 or Premium Roofing Sites it is very likely that we can turn almost any joomla template into a roofing site. Email or call prior to purchasing the template to let us take a look at it and advise you as to whether or not we can make it work.

    Use Caution! We have heard of hosting and design companies that sell packages and host your website for prices that range from $30-$130 a month, and in almost all cases of roofing contractors, this is simply not needed. Their sales pitch makes it sound like you need all the extra space and bandwidth in case you grow, and while that is potentially true, it is only part of the truth. We have found that even with all of the websites that Roofwebs hosts and runs, we use only a fraction of one percent of our allotted space and bandwidth. And we use the same server space that we are hosting your sites with.

    Also, be wary of other services that want to order your domain name for you. Certain companies will buy your domain name in their name so that they own the rights to it. This should never be the case. It should be purchased for you and in your name. They are essentially holding your name and email hostage so that you can never take it elsewhere even if you find a better deal on hosting. It's a scam and should be avoided at all costs.
